Based in the Pacific Northwest, John Gussman has spent decades documenting landscapes, people, and the outdoor lifestyle shaped by that environment.
After beginning his career as a newspaper photographer in the 1970s, he founded Doubleclick Productions in 1982, building a long-standing commercial practice while continuing to pursue work rooted in nature. Today, his focus has returned fully to that foundation, creating still and motion imagery across the Olympic Peninsula and beyond.
FAA licensed for UAV aerial work, he combines ground and drone perspectives to produce visual stories for brands, organizations, and environmental projects—always guided by authenticity and a deep understanding of place.
Every photograph begins long before the shutter fires. It starts with research, with scouting, with getting up at 3am and driving two hours into the dark on a forecast that might not hold. That's the job. And I love it.
Be on the lookout around Clallam County for the 4 new Clallam Transit wildlife buses wrapped with local nature images. Myself and Becky Stinnett each have 2 buses with our photos on them, and it sure beats looking at beer ads on the side of the bus.
